Matthew T. Aslanian - Shareholder

In my experience, everyone enters litigation with slightly different goals.  My litigation philosophy is simple:  identify my client’s goal and then find – or create – paths to achieving it.  It sounds simple, but each case brings its own challenges, and each client brings a different set of concerns and sensitivities.  I focus on providing creative, aggressive strategies to position clients to achieve their litigation ends.

Core to my philosophy of client-oriented services is a well-rounded approach to litigation.  I maintain a broad practice to avoid the tunnel-vision that can flow from becoming too immersed in a particular area of practice.  Instead of over-specialization, I focus on innovative approaches to the process of litigating, and understanding the variation among litigation strategies in different fields, while dedicating myself to finding effective legal approaches in whichever area of law that underpins the litigation.

While maintaining breadth in my practice, commercial litigation remains a central area of it:  representing businesses in disputes centered on contract breaches, tort claims, class action defense and internal disputes in the context of closely-held corporations.  On the other end of the spectrum, I enjoy helping counsel individuals faced with potential disputes or litigation arising out of estate, trust, and other fiduciary-related issues.

In all areas of my practice I strive for a single hallmark:  thoughtful, dedicated, invested, and practical representation with dogged pursuit of my client’s goals.  Through the years, I am proud that many of my peers have had the opportunity to describe my professionalism, and have done so in ways that reinforce my central focus, describing me as “exceptionally bright,” and my work as “thoughtful and diligent,” concluding that I am exactly “the type of attorney every client should have.”  I work hard to be recognized as “analytical and a tremendous communicator” whose “legal acumen is top-notch” with a “clarity of thought” that enables “excellent, clear writing” on behalf of clients.
