Alexander Firsichbaum focuses on strategic advocacy for complex commercial and estate litigation.
Alex is a seasoned litigator who navigates high-stakes disputes where business interests and private wealth intersect. He represents closely-held companies, public corporations, and individuals in their most critical legal challenges —from “bet-the-company” commercial litigation and class action defense to complex trust and estate disputes. Known for his aggressive advocacy and strategic foresight, he doesn't just manage cases; he manages “legal minefields,” handling everything from complex e-discovery to the presentation of forceful arguments before state and federal courts as well as mediators and arbitrators.
Alex views litigation as means to an end, not an end in itself. He coordinates closely with his clients to identify the most efficient path toward their unique goals—whether that requires a decisive victory at trial or a negotiated resolution.
His practice focuses on two core pillars:
- Commercial Litigation: Defending and prosecuting claims arising from issues such as breach of contract, fraud, tortious interference, shareholder conflicts, accounting irregularities, and real property disputes
- Wills, Trusts & Estates: Handling contentious and sensitive litigation involving undue influence, challenges to testamentary capacity, and fiduciary misconduct
Known for his insight and ability to distill complex electronic discovery and expert testimony into winning trial strategies, Alex provides clients with the clarity they need in high-pressure situations. He serves as a trusted partner offering guidance and counsel throughout process and prioritizes constant communication to ensure that every legal move aligns with his clients’ commercial or personal objectives.
Before joining OLSS in 2017, Alex was a law clerk to the Hon. Marianne Espinosa, Superior Court of New Jersey (Appellate Division) in 2016-2017 and had interned for the Hon. Esther Salas, United State District Court (D.N.J.). He triple majored in Political Science, Philosophy, and German Studies as an undergraduate at Rutgers University, then taught English in Germany on a Fulbright grant, before graduating from Rutgers Law School in 2016.

- Patane v. Nestle Waters North America, Inc., 3:17 -cv-01381 (D. Conn.). Alex has been heavily involved in all phases of this ongoing multi-state consumer fraud and breach-of-contract class action filed in 2017, including motions to dismiss, complex discovery disputes, motions for summary judgment, and motions for class certification.
- Cornerstone Staffing Solutions, Inc. v. Weber, Shapiro & Co., LLP, 842 F. App’x 732 (3d Cir. 2021). Alex successfully defended an appeal of summary judgment, with the Third Circuit affirming that claims for fraud and similar causes of action against an accounting firm are subject of New Jersey’s Affidavit of Merit statute.
- Garden State Check Cashing Service, Inc., v. Dep’t of Banking & Ins., 237 N.J. 482 (2019). Alex handled an appeal to the New Jersey Supreme Court that resulted in it adopting our interpretation of the New Jersey Check Cashers Regulatory Act in connection with licenses issued by the N.J. Department of Banking and Insurance.
- Represented a broker-dealer and placement agent in an expansive AAA arbitration against a private equity fund involving a series of disputes over complex contracts
- Represented executor to claw back fraudulently-dissipated estate assets on behalf of charity beneficiaries
- Represented rural homeowners in a complex land dispute, successfully defeating claims of adverse possession and implied easements to enjoin a business from continuously trespassing on their property
- Represented former director and officer in employment compensation dispute against his company
- Represented co-owner of car dealerships in dispute over control of closely-held corporation and valuation of stock
- Represented an employee asserting claims for unlawful discrimination on the basis of national origin
- Represented real estate developers and investors in against the Internal Revenue Service in the U.S. Tax Court
- Represented suburban homeowner against neighbor in N.J. Appellate Division and Chancery Division on claims for trespass and nuisance arising from flooding
- Represented real estate broker and agents against claims of fraudulent misrepresentation and breach of contract in real estate transactions
- Represented warehouse company in a broad range of contract disputes with commercial customers.
